Heung-min Son addresses furious reaction to teammates on rollercoaster week for Tottenham

Tottenham captain Heung-min Son reiterated the high standards his teammates much shoot for after the 4-1 win over Newcastle.

Spurs were beaten by West Ham in midweek, after which Son labelled the squad "soft" after an "unacceptable" performance made it five games without a win in a row despite leading on each occasion - a new Premier League record.

On Sunday, the Korean netted a late penalty after a brace from Richarlison and Destiny Udogie's first goal for Tottenham earned them a valuable three points against Newcastle.

And Son asserted that his team must always demand more as he addressed his comments after the game.

"Yeah, 100 per cent," he said of the importance of high standards in a post-match interview with Sky Sports.

"We are playing in the Premier League and you have to demand more and more of each other. There is never enough, look at those amazing teams that always keep going - it doesn't matter how many wins they get in a row.

"They should be happy and today was another good lesson, to go for the next game and be strong like this. Then I think we'll be a very, very good side."

Son was awarded the official Man of the Match awarded for his two assists and goal at Tottenham Stadium but said Richarlison was more deserving of the honour.

It was not until the 85th minute that the 31-year-old scored from the spot, having been downed by Martin Dubravka himself, in Tottenham's first penalty since regular taker Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich.

"Should we call Harry back?" he remarked.

"I practice all the time, even when Harry was here. You never know what's going to happen, it's all about practice.

"Obviously I learnt from Harry as well. I hope [for a few more], it was our first for us."
