Hertfordshire police station evacuated after member of public 'brings suspected WWI bomb to police'

A police station has been evacuated after reports that a bomb from World War One has been brought to the building.

Bomb squad experts are reportedly investigating the discovery at a Hertfordshire police station.

It is reported that a member of the public brought the suspected device to the station car park in Hoddesdon shortly after 9:30 this morning, in order for it to be examined by police.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary told The Hertfordshire Mercury: “A member of the public brought the item to the station to be examined by the police.

“Buildings within the cordon have been evacuated as a precaution and roads closed to allow the EOD [Explosive Ordnance Disposal] to attend and access the object.”
