Herschel Walker slams California bill on Twitter

Georgia football legend Herschel Walker has never been shy when it comes to his political views.

Walker has publicly defended President Donald Trump, who was the owner of the USFL’s New Jersey Generals two out of the three years Walker played for the team.

Recently, Walker made another splash when he tweeted his criticism over over a proposed bill that would give healthcare benefits to some illegal immigrants who live in the state of California.

From FOX 10:

Under an agreement between Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democrat lawmakers in the state legislature, low-income adults between the ages of 19 and 25 living in the state illegally would be eligible for California’s Medicaid program, known as Medi-Cal.

The deal emerged as part of a broader $213 million budget and would take effect next January.

“Not to point fingers at California, but why would you give free healthcare to illegal immigrants when your streets are littered with homeless legal residents, trash, and tents. California is a beauitful place, so let’s keep it that way,” Walker tweeted.

Walker’s tweet has been retweeted over 26,000 times, with responses varying from “why would you tweet this” to “thank you, Herschel.”

Take it as you will. If anything, it’s refreshing to see Walker, an NFL legend and celebrity, continues to speak his mind and give honest opinions on pressing matters.
