Herons' Moor Academy school playing field 'out of use' after travellers set up camp

A school in Weston-super-Mare is unable to use its playing field after travellers set up camp.

At least 10 vehicles moved onto the field of Herons' Moor Academy overnight on Sunday (May 12).

In a post on Facebook, the school confirmed it is "open as normal" but said students are unable to use the playing field due to the incursion.

A spokesperson for the school said: "Good morning. Some of you are aware of the overnight developments on the school playing field.

"The school is open as normal today, although the field will be out of use."

The school added that both North Somerset Council and the police have been notified of the encampment.

This is why Jeremy Kyle isn't on today - ITV viewers' disappointment as Dickinson's Real Deal shown instead

It is not known whether this is the same group which recently moved onto land at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre shortly after setting up an illegal camp on Weston-super-Mare seafront.

The council has been contacted for comment.
