Heroin and cash worth four figures seized by cops during Kilmarnock drug raids

Heroin was among drugs seized alongside a sum of cash during a series of police raids in Kilmarnock.

Officers searched two properties just after 9am this morning on Gillsburn Gardens and Orchard Gardens armed with a warrant upon receiving reports of a rise in antisocial behaviour and drug dealing.

A quantity of drugs, including the Class A substance, were found alongside money totalling four figures seized under Proceeds of Crime legislation.

Cops cuffed two men, age 31 and 40, and a 46-year-old woman in connection with alleged drug dealing, with another female, 28, arrested for posession.

All four are being reported to Procurator Fiscal.

As a result of additional officers being deployed to the area, a 35-year-old male was also arrested on warrant having previously failed to appear at court.

Two drivers were also issued with penalties over tyre defects.

Locality Policing Inspector for the area, Jason Peter, said: "We are committed to tackling issues of local concern and will continue to work with our partners and communities in doing so.

"We are aware of concerns regarding a recent increase in antisocial behaviour, drug dealing and drug misuse in the Hillhead area of Kilmarnock.

"By focusing police activity in the area we aim to increase awareness on the work undertaken on a daily basis by officers across East Ayrshire.

“Drugs cause misery in our communities - officers have provided information to a number of people today about drug and alcohol support services.

"Drug dealers don’t care about communities or the devastation caused by their actions - only by working together will we support the most vulnerable.

"Following the searches this morning officers have been deployed on foot, cycle and in vehicles in the area. Officers from the Police Scotland Mounted Branch have also been in the area and our patrols will continue this evening.

"We have been engaging with businesses, providing crime prevention advice and raising awareness on how to contact us by distributing posters in the area.

"Enforcement action like that undertaken today depends on information coming in from members of the public and we would urge anyone with information on crime in their area to contact us or to call the independent Charity CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
