Heroin addict since 14 years old, body of man found and home with 'spectacular' views

This harrowing custody image lays bare the bleak impact of a lifetime spent addicted to heroin.

Christopher Corness, 33, formerly of Sunningdale Avenue, Widnes, has been addicted to crack cocaine and heroin since starting to use drugs when he was just 14-years-old.

When he was arrested by police after being caught dealing drugs, he was personally using six to seven bags of heroin and five to six bags of crack cocaine a day.

On February 10, 2022, Liverpool Crown Court was told Corness had been exploited and was being directed by his supplier to sell drugs.

The defendant was seen by police in an exchange with another man in Joseph Street, Widnes, and it was suspected he was engaged in drug dealing.

Corness ran off when officers approached him, but was detained and spat out of his mouth a package containing nine wraps of heroin and 18 wraps of crack cocaine with a total street value of £270.

Body of man in his 50s found on walking path

The body of a man in his 50s was found near Birkenhead Priory.

Merseyside Police officers discovered the body on the Wirral Circular Trail path, close to Birkenhead Priory, on Monday, January 17 at around 11am.

The North West Ambulance Service attended the scene with police, and the man, believed to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The ECHO understands the man's next of kin have been informed.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "At around 11am on Monday 17 January we received a report of a body of a man on the Wirral Circular Trail path, close to Birkenhead Priory.

"His death is being treated as non-suspicious and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with his death."
