The incident, which happened on Quebec Drive in East Kilbride on September 1, 2021, was caught on video by a member of the public surrounding him, with a police van also at the scene, tracking and monitoring his movements.

Constables Lee Brown, Sharon Bradbury and Gary Drewett, and other officers have received the Chief Constable's Bravery and Excellence Awards for their actions.

Police were requested to attend an area in East Kilbride regarding a report of a male brandishing knives at members of the public.

Constables Lee Brown, Sharon Bradbury and Gary Drewett, and other officers attended the scene, located the man and contained his movements to protect the public.

The man was brandishing knives and threatened to stab the officers, striking the police vehicle with a knife and throwing another knife at the officers. The police officers brought the man under control, and their swift and courageous actions led to a violent offender being arrested, and negated risk of injury and harm to the wider community.
