The Christmas season is a time when everyone tries to adhere to the principle of peace and goodwill towards all people and these two members of An Garda Síochána are leading by example.
In a post that was shared via the Gardai's official Twitter account, Garda Conall Shaw and Garda Nathan Lowry of Balbriggan Garda Station stopped to an assist an elderly member of the public who ran into some car trouble.
It appears that this person's car had broken down in Lusk on Wednesday morning.
Thankfully, Garda Shaw and Lowry were on hand to help out and alleviate the stressful situation.
With the Christmas seasons et to be a busy one for officers around the country, the Gardai also used the opportunity to make the public aware that they're always on hand if anyone needs help and support.
"If you need assistance, please give us a call," they state.
After seeing the heartwarming and decent actions of Garda Shaw and Lowry, another social media user shared a similar experience they had which saw a member of An Garda Síochána going above and beyond their usual call of duty.
"My mother had a flat tyre in Monaghan in August. She’s 73. Two amazing Gardai helped her when AA said they’d be 90 minutes. Protectors of peace. Guardians of society. Love to An Garda Siochana," they said.
Aside from this kind intervention to help an elderly motorist, Gardai around the country were busy this afternoon as they conducted raids in Limerick, Westmeath, and Galway.
Elsewhere, Gardai arrested two men this morning in connection with the unexplained death of a young man in Kerry in August.
North Cork man Darragh Sheehan, 26, was found dead outside a Killarney hotel on Saturday, August 29.
Officers treated the death as "unexplained" and this morning made two arrests in connection with the incident.
