An Asda worker has been hailed a hero for coming to the rescue of an elderly customer who collapsed in the store.
Asda Livingston customer colleague, Karen Yardley, has been commended for going the extra mile for an elderly customer who fell ill at the checkouts.
Karen was due to finish her shift when she noticed a customer looked a bit peaky and as she went to approach him, he collapsed. She immediately came to his aid and took the customer to a quiet area, away from the hustle and bustle instore.
After a short while, the customer started to feel better and it came to light that he did not have his medication for his diabetes as he was waiting on a delivery from the pharmacy.
Karen insisted on taking the customer home and on the way she picked up his medication so he didn’t have to go himself.
The humble employee said she “didn’t think twice about helping.”
She continued: “I wanted to make sure he was okay and I didn’t mind picking up his medication as I knew that would make him feel better. I didn’t think twice about doing this – I just wanted to make sure he was okay.”
“I am always happy to help our customers and I’ll do all I can to ensure their safety in store.”
Asda Livingston Customer Trading Manager, Kirsty Tait, praised Karen for her quick thinking.
She said: “Karen’s actions are a great example of what makes a great Asda colleague. We’re very proud of everything Karen has done for the store, and for this customer. Thank you, Karen!”
