She said: “Could you please send out a massive thanks to these people. They saved my dog Bronson after he fell in the River Dee at Milton of Crathes.
“The bank is steep and he couldn't get out. He’s not keen on water and only ever goes in up to his knees.
“So glad you were passing and scooped him out. A hero in a wetsuit. Thank you.”
Kind-hearted Pete Mitchell, who had been on the water with his neighbour, was quickly identified but remains humble about the role he played. had been paddle boarding with his neighbour when he spotted the struggling dog.
He told the Daily Record: “My neighbour and I were paddle boarding down the Dee and this woman was walking her dog along the bank and he fell in or went in but didn’t realise how deep it was.
“He started kinda floating down river so I paddled over and picked him up and got him back to his owner.
“It wasn’t a daring rescue or anything.”
