Two heroes dived into a river to help rescue a woman after her car veered off a harbour and plunged into the water.
The incident happened on Sunday evening, May 14, near Drake's Pool, in Coolmore, Cork.
Mercy crews raced to the scene, including fire crews who also helped with the rescue effort. The woman was the sole occupant of the car and it is believed that she escaped serious injury but was taken to Cork University Hospital for further assessment, reports Cork Beo.
The pair who dived into the river suffered some minor injuries to their feet.
A Garda spokesperson told CorkBeo: "Gardaí attended the scene of reports of a car in the water at Drake’s Pool, Coolmore, Carrigaline this evening Sunday 14 th May, 2023.
"One woman was taken from the car and removed to CUH for treatment. Investigations ongoing."
