Hero World Challenge 2023: Field, tee times, how to watch, prize money, odds as Tiger Woods makes golf return

Tiger Woods makes his return to competitive golf this week as he tees it up at the Hero World Challenge.

The 15-time major champion was last seen at the Masters in April, when he withdrew during the third round and subsequently underwent ankle surgery in a bid to address his latest injury issue.

That was successful, with Woods confirming his ankle was no longer causing him pain, but the 47-year-old has admitted he is still troubled by a number of problems that have hampered him since a serious car crash in February 2021.

He is fit enough to feature this week in the Bahamas though, at a tournament he hosts. Woods takes his place in the 20-man field and will play 72 holes assuming there are no injury issues, with this a no-cut event. He will also feature next month at the PNC Championship alongside son Charlie.

Viktor Hovland has won the Hero World Challenge in each of the past two years and is favourite for a hat-trick, having been in sparkling form for much of 2023.

The tournament gets underway at Albany in the Bahamas with the first round on Thursday, November 30. The action runs through until Sunday, December 3.

The final round will come to a conclusion on Sunday night UK time, with the Bahamas five hours behind.

Hero World Challenge 2023 field in full

World number one Scottie Scheffler is teeing it up this week, along with the likes of Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler.

Close friends Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele were both initially in the field, but have subsequently withdrawn. Justin Rose and Lucas Glover have taken their spots.

Woods makes his much-anticipated return to the course, and so too does Will Zalatoris. The 27-year-old pulled out of the Masters ahead of the first round earlier this year and underwent back surgery following the major, with this his first tournament back.
