Hero toddler unlocked mum's phone to call for help after she collapsed at home

A two-year-old girl summoned help for her unconscious mother by unlocking her phone to raise the alarm.

Little Sophia Mizen sprang into action when mum Samantha, 28, collapsed in her kitchen.

The quick-thinking toddler unlocked the Huawei phone by pressing her mum’s finger on to the fingerprint sensor.

Sophia then video-called her gran for help and said her mum was “poorly”.

Grandmother Debbie Baker saw on her screen that Samantha was lying face down at her home in Poole, Dorset, and called 999.

Debbie was 160 miles away in Herefordshire.

Sophia’s brother Ethan, four, had been hysterical but calmed down and got a blanket and pillow for Samantha. The mum was rushed to hospital, where doctors said she had collapsed after suffering from a stomach bug and becoming dehydrated.

She has made a full recovery from the scare on February 8 and is now back at home.

Samantha – who also has a baby boy called Finley – said her daughter must have
overheard the safety advice she had given Ethan about how to react in an emergency. She added: “Sophia has always been caring.

“She would always come and cuddle me and ask me if I needed anything and she looks after her baby brother.

“I would have expected Ethan to help me because we have been through with him what he needs to do.

“I never realised she soaked in what I was telling her brother.”
