Hero police officers desperately try to save life of newborn choking on milk

Police officers in Brazil have been captured saving a choking newborn baby's life in dramatic footage.

The tiny boy fell unconscious after choking on his milk.

A video captured of the shows officers from São Paulo police department calmly and methodically performing the life-saving techniques.

Parents Elvis and Cristina Marques, rushed their son, Lucas, to the station after he stopped breathing and started to turn red on Thursday afternoon.

According to officers the dad said: “My wife had just breastfed our baby and brought up the wind.

"She was preparing to bathe him afterwards as usual, when she realised, as she changed him, that he was struggling to breathe and choking.”

He said Cristina had tried to revive their son but all her efforts failed.

Tense footage of the crucial few minutes show the military police officers' training kick into action as they work to save the tiny boy's life.

The officers manage to revive the one-month-old baby by patting him on his back and giving mouth to mouth resuscitation.

At first the child fails to respond, remaining unconscious and limp.

But after nearly a minute the hero officers' efforts are rewarded with a loud wail.

The force told Brazilian news media Globo.com the baby began breathing normally and survived his ordeal.
