Hero Paisley schoolboy hailed after after quick-thinking actions saved his mum’s life

An eight-year-old has been hailed after his quick-thinking actions saved his mum’s life.

West Primary School pupil Tinasshe Katope alerted mercy crews when his mother Chikondi Kasawala, 31, collapsed and fell unconscious in the family’s Ferguslie home.

Tinasshe was able to guide paramedics to the house and keep them updated on his mum’s condition.

Proud mum Chikondi says she wouldn’t be alive today if it hadn’t been for her lad’s amazingly calm reactions.

She said: “It was my day off so we had our dinner then we were having a movie night. Tinasshe, his brother Jaden, who is seven, and
me.

“It was getting late and I said I was going up to bed. I don’t know what happened next, it was just darkness, I blacked out. I woke up in hospital.

“Tinasshe called the ambulance by himself. He gave them all the right information, our address, my date of birth, my phone number and what had happened. They were so impressed by him.

“He saved my life. I would be dead if it wasn’t for what he did.

Chikondi, who is a senior carer, said medics were blown away by her son’s calmness under pressure.

She added: “All the doctors said it was amazing what he did, they couldn’t believe he is only eight. He even let my fiancé in Germany know what had happened to me.

“He did amazingly well, we are so proud of him.

“He used a chair to get the keys to the door down from the key holder to let the ambulance crew in.

“The school have assemblies to tell the pupils what to do in an emergency but they said no one had ever had to actually do what Tinasshe did.

“He followed it step by step and did everything perfectly.”

Although on the mend, Chikondi is still waiting for test results before getting the all clear.

She added: “I’m still waiting to find out the results of scans and tests but I had high blood pressure so that might be what caused me to black out.

“I can’t imagine what would have happened if he hadn’t done what he did.”
