Hero lollipop man saves school kids from van in amazing dashcam footage

This is the heart-stopping moment a hero lollipop man jumps out to save young school kids from walking in front of a moving van.

The footage was filmed by dad Danny Elsey who had just finished the school run at Manadon Vale Primary School, PlymouthLive reported.

It shows a white van starting to move towards the crossing as kids were still using it.

But the quick-thinking lollipop man reacts swiftly, jumping out in front of the children and ensuring they are not hit.

Danny has shared the video to show his gratitude towards the lollipop man who he says should receive recognition for his actions.

“I had just dropped my son and daughter off at school," he said.

"As I drove towards Manadon roundabout, along St Peters Road, I could see the lollipop man stood in the middle of the road allowing children to cross.

"I was indicating to turn left, yet I was stationary. I saw the van approaching to my right and signalling to turn right onto Manadon drive as well.

"The driver was focused on myself and I guess she thought I was giving way to her. Not once did she turn to her right where she was about to be driving.

"Luckily for the children stepping into the road, [the lollipop man] jumped in front of them, stopping them from crossing the road into the path of danger.

"As a single father myself I would really like to state that driving around schools with 100 per cent attention and care of your surroundings really is a must.

"I have the dash cam because many times I’ve seen incidents and never had any witnesses to these accounts.

"As for [the lollipop man], the man really needs some recognition for his bravery and fast thinking."
