Hero Limerick firefighters rescue cat from telephone pole 'stuck overnight'

This is the moment Limerick firefighters rescued a scared cat after it got stuck on top of an electricity pole on Monday.

The dramatic rescue was captured on camera as two firefighters from Limerick Fire and Rescue used an articulated boom lift to reach the scared pet on Pennywell Road, in Limerick city.

Limerick Animal Welfare raised the alarm in a post on Facebook asking for help.

They said: "This cat is stuck at the top of an electricity since last night (Sunday) on Pennywell Road, Limerick.

"Please can anyone from ESB help or contact LAW for advice."

They later posted a video of the rescue that has been viewed over 15,000 times.

Limerick Fire Brigade were given huge praise from locals after kindly saving the animal.

They said in a tweet after the incident: "#NotJustFires Feeline fine this evening with the puuurfect rescue!"
