Hero Kane Morris, 10, tried to protect girl, 8, as he lay dying after being stabbed by dad

A brave 10-year-old boy tried to protect a young girl as he lay dying after being stabbed by his dad.

Kane Morris’s heroic actions were revealed as Andrew Morris admitted killing his son in a knife frenzy at a flat in Coupar Angus .

Kane staggered to the eight-year-old girl’s room after being viciously attacked in his bed in the early hours.

The courageous schoolboy collapsed outside the door and died about 90 minutes later.

The girl who had stab wounds to her abdomen and limbs suffered a collapsed lung and spent four weeks in hospital.

Yesterday, Judge Lord Mulholland told the High Court in Glasgow: “It seems to me that Kane showed incredible bravery and self-sacrifice. Rather than thinking of himself, his concern was for the eight-year-old girl.

“For a 10-year-old boy to do that shows incredible bravery.”

He added: “The eight-year-old girl showed incredible bravery as well.”

Morris yesterday pleaded guilty to killing Kane – a talented singer and wildlife enthusiast – at a flat in Coupar Angus, Perthshire, last November.

The thug also admitted attempting to murder the girl, who suffered near-fatal stab wounds and battled for her life in hospital.

After attacking the kids, former soldier Morris nifed himself five times and jumped out a third floor window, suffering serious injuries.

Lord Mulholland deferred sentence on Morris until August 12 to allow for the preparation of psychiatric and criminal justice reports.
