Hero ITV The Chase contestant brings thousands back to his team in unbelievable performance

A contestant was labelled a hero tonight after bringing home £45,000 to his team.

Video Editor Adam from Lancashire went for the high offer as he went up against Paul Sinha as the Chaser.

Adam, 50, said he enjoyed making leather bags in his spare time and said he was only on the show once.

Paul said: "You deserve the massive amount of luck the others have had so far."

Adam was welcomed back to his team like a hero - as he bumped up their prize money to £60,000.

His fellow teammates, Rachel, Chris and Judith also got back and added to the prize fund - meaning the full four were set to go against Paul in the final chase.

And people on social media couldn't believe what Adam had done.

Ben Cross said: "Absolutely buzzing for Adam."

Fluffy said: "Adam well played sir."

Gary B said: "He's actually pretty decent!! Makes a refreshing change!"

The team set a target of 22 for Paul Sinha to beat in the final chase and everyone was at the edge of their seats.

After a series of pushbacks the Sinnerman beat the team in the last second and they went home with nothing.

The team said they felt "gutted and lost for words" but said they had had a good day, despite their last minute loss.

*The Chase continues at 5pm on Monday on ITV
