A heroic garda helped save a marathon runner’s life after they suffered a suspected heart attack.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after a man collapsed while at the Dublin Marathon on Sunday.
An on-duty female detective rushed to his aid and gave CPR as back-up arrived, Dublin Live reports.
The Dublin Fire Brigade brought him to hospital where he was responding to treatment. A marathon spokeswoman confirmed the incident saying the man was treated immediately and should recover.

She said: “The Dublin Marathon can confirm a participant took ill yesterday on course of the KBC Dublin Marathon.
“We can confirm a garda was present and the runner was attended to by the medical team immediately and taken to hospital by ambulance .
“The person is expected to make a full recovery.”
