Hero firefighters rescue two toddlers who became trapped in a flat in Drimnagh, Co Dublin

Hero firefighters have rescued two toddlers who accidentally became trapped in a flat in Dublin.

The worrying incident happened at a premises in Drimnagh on the south side of the capital.

It is not yet known how the toddlers became trapped in the flat, but a 10.5 metre ladder was used to gain access to it.

Luckily, it was a happy ending for all involved as the children came to no harm, Dublin Live reports.

The firefighters took to Twitter to confirm the kids had been freed from the house. 

They said: "A crew from Dolphins Barn have released two toddlers who were accidentally locked in a flat in Drimnagh.

"A 10.5 metre ladder was used to gain access through a window in to the flat.

"The children were are no worse for wear."
