Hero Edinburgh fire crews race to blaze on Westfield Road in west of city

Hero Edinburgh firefighters raced to reports of a fire in the Gorgie area of the city after receiving a call at 7:15pm.

The incident took place at Westfield Road on Tuesday July 5. Four engines raced to the scene as police officers closed the road while firefighters tackled the blaze.

Images show the busy west Edinburgh Road taped off, as a police officer stands monitoring the nearby traffic. Four fire engines and several firefighters were stood in the road after putting out the fire.

It is not yet known what the cause of the fire was or if there are any casualties.

The Scottish Fire Service confirmed that four appliances raced to the scene and that they were alerted to the fire at 7:30pm. Police Scotland also attended to assist fire crews.

The fire has now being extinguished with one crew remaining at the scene to deal with the aftermath of the blaze.
