Hero Edinburgh ASDA worker's selfless act to help shopper in desperate need

An Edinburgh ASDA worker has been hailed as a good samaritan after helping out a customer who had no money to get home.

Wendy, a customer service employee at the Jewel store in the city, had been praised by both her colleagues and the company after she noticed the shopper in need.

While on shift on Friday (September 17), Wendy had been serving a woman who had wanted to quickly return a grocery item just moments after buying it in store.

However, it then came to light that the woman was returning the item because without it she wouldn't have enough money to be able to get the bus home.

Quickly jumping into action, Wendy then kindly gave the customer a bus fare out of her own pocket, telling her to keep the item she tried to return.

Recognising his staff member's generosity, Wendy's store manager Andrew had then gone on to nominate her for a customer service award after the customer had got in touch with him to share how grateful she was.

Speaking about Wendy, he said: "Wendy is a naturally caring person and this was a great act of kindness.

"It was a small amount, but it had a massive impact to the customer."

After ASDA shared the special moment on social media, many shoppers were quick to congratulate Wendy on her nomination.

One user said: :"Well-deserved, what a lovely thing to do!"

Another replied: "What a special lady."
