Hero dog walker charged into burning flat and dragged unconscious couple to safety

A hero passer-by charged into a burning flat and dragged two unconscious occupants to safety.

Scott Robertson was walking his mother’s dogs when he saw the smoke-filled ground-floor flat in Kinross, Perthshire, and spotted a man and woman lying unconscious in the living room.

Brave Scott, 29, raised the alarm and then raced inside, fighting through smoke and searing heat to drag the pair to safety.

The builder from Milnathort said: “I just burst through the side door – it was melting with the heat.

“I ran in but couldn’t see a thing because the place was reeking with black smoke. The heat was unbearable.

“I dragged the girl out first and then ran back inside to the guy who was still passed out on the floor.

“I managed to get him out on to the street where we waited for the paramedics and fire brigade.

“The place was destroyed. I’m glad no one was hurt but it could have been a lot worse.”

Scot has been hailed as a hero by neighbours – and even been offered free pizza at local Italian restaurant La Casanova.

Fire crews battled the blaze for 40 minutes on Monday, which is thought to have been caused by an overheated plug socket.
