A heroic dad told how he risked his own life to rescue a disabled homeless man who was trapped in a burning building - amid fears teenage arsonists may have started the blaze.
Shocking footage showed a fireball engulfing a lock-up storage facility in Saughton Park, Edinburgh, at around 7pm on Monday - with reports of teenagers running from the scene.
But moments before, quick-thinking Kyle McAndrew, 32, risked his own life to save a homeless man with MS, who had taken shelter inside and was unable to escape.
Kyle was playing with his children on the nearby field when he noticed the fire, and heard cries for help.
He dived into the blaze to rescue the man, who was in his 20s or 30s and was unable to escape the fire, which cops believe was arson.
Kyle said: "My instincts just kicked in when I saw a man lying there.
"The flames were engulfing the container and my only thought was getting him out of there.
"It was obvious that he had mobility issues and I later found out he had MS.
"The adrenaline just kicked in and I dragged him away to safety.
"You can see from the video that material is melting and it does not bear thinking about what would have happened if that man had been trapped in there.
"I'm just glad I could help him."
He said he chased a group of youths aged 14 to 16 away from the scene, and believed they had been caught on CCTV.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Police enquiries are continuing into a fire in Saughton Park, Edinburgh on the evening of Monday 1 June, where a shelter and sporting equipment were set alight.
"The fire is being treated as wilful.
"The fire has been extinguished and no one was injured.
"Officers are currently following a number of lines of enquiry."
