Hero Asda worker saves elderly woman who fell at cashpoint and pushed her all the way home

An Asda worker has been hailed a hero after saving an elderly woman who fell while using a cashpoint.

Khawaja Hayee, fresh produce assistant at Oldham's Hollins Road store, helped the woman into a wheelchair and, with the help of a colleague, pushed her all the way home.

Management at the store revealed his good deed on Facebook saying student Khawaja has now been nominated for a customer service award.

The message read: "Thank you to Khawaja from our Hollins Road supermarket in Oldham for doing everything he could to help an elderly customer who took a tumble outside the store.

"After making sure the lady was okay, he helped her into a wheelchair and, with the help of service section leader Harroon, used it to take her home."

"Khawaja has been nominated for an Asda customer service award for his kind act."

Deputy store manager Dan Derbyshire said: "The customer was using the cashpoint outside the store when she fell. She was so grateful that Khawaja was so helpful.

"Thank you Khawaja for making a difference. It's always nice when someone goes that extra mile for our customers."
