Hermes delivery drivers attacked and robbed in Swansea

Two Hermes delivery drivers have been attacked and robbed in Swansea, with parcels destined for people's homes taken.

The delivery service confirmed two separate incidents involving its drivers, one in Langland and the other in Mayhill.

In the incident in Langland last week, the driver suffered a number of injuries, and parcels were taken from his van.

Well-wishers have now l aunched a fund-raiser on his behalf, to finance a body and dashboard camera for him, and any extra as a Christmas gift.

The company declined to reveal any details about either incident, including the exact location or time, or how badly their drivers were injured.

But a spokesman said: “We are sad and angry to confirm these two incidents.

“Both couriers have delivered on our behalf for several years and we are providing full support.

“Affected customers will be informed as soon as possible.”

The two incidents are just the latest in which delivery drivers have been targeted in Swansea.

A van packed with parcels was stolen from Dunvant Road in Dunvant at 11.55am on Wednesday, October 21.

It sparked an urgent social media appeal in an attempt to recover the vehicle and its contents.

The van belonged to LRA Logistics Limited which said the driver was uninjured but the parcels had gone missing, and blamed organised crime.

Earlier the same day, around 10.25am, a van was stolen in Beverley StreetPort Talbot. The vehicle was later recovered in Cwmbwrla.

The incidents prompted police to issue a reminder to drivers to never leave keys in unattended vehicles and never leave personal or delivery items on display in the vehicle, and to ensure windows and doors are locked when leaving.

They also urged drivers to make sure they had access to a mobile phone at all times.
