Heritage goes to hotelier but locals lose out

Bangkok's old Customs House, a 128-year-old vintage building by the Chao Phraya River, is going to get the facelift it so deserves.

The Treasury Department, the landlord of the property, is amending a contract it awarded the property developer to include some major obligations: that it regenerate the structure and incorporate conservation efforts into its project to reinvent the heritage building.
