Here's why you might have heard or seen another huge plane flying low over Glasgow last night

With little air traffic over the city recently amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis, Glaswegians have been showing curiosity about the planes that do appear in the skies.

And that has been the case with the huge RAF Atlas military plane, which has been spotted on a host of occasions above the city - including yesterday afternoon - as it takes part in essential training and performs frequent 'touch and go' landings at Glasgow Airport.

Yet last night many may have spotted - or at least heard - a massive plane of a different kind crossing right above the city at what seemed to be a very low height.

The plane in question was a British registered cargo plane, making its way to land at Prestwick after flying in from the city of Krasnoyarsk in the Siberia region of Russia.

The flight path of the huge CargoLogicAir 747 plane suggests that it flew to Scotland to deliver a consignment of PPE for the NHS - with the Russian airport used as a fueling stop from an initial take off in China.

The reason being that CargoLogicAir have been operating supply flights for the past few weeks from China to the UK for the NHS - the first of which saw equipment transported to London Heathrow from China on April 25.

With CargoLogicAir operating the Scottish Government's third charter flight on May 4 to Prestwick to deliver vital PPE to healthcare workers amid the coronavirus pandemic.

And we'd imagine that being the case that it further flights will be heading our way in the future.

Just seemed a little odd that it flew low directly over Glasgow at such a late hour!
