Here's why there were human-sized items of packaging protesting in Glasgow today

Anyone heading over the Tradeston Bridge this morning may have noticed a rubbish site.

Human-sized items of packaging were protesting on the route, in a bid to reduce the amount of litter that reaches the sea from the Clyde.

It's part of a massive week of action currently taking place across the country, which is organised by Keep Scotland Beautiful.

The environmental charity is laying on a host of activities and events to highlight issues about pollution, as well as the impact discarded waste has on the land and marine environment.

Keep Scotland Beautiful is calling for residents from along the Clyde to take part in the Upstream Battle Week of Action, which kicked off on Saturday and will run until September 20.
