People living in Leith reported seeing black smoke rising over the docks yesterday.
Pictures and videos show the smoke plume drifting over the shore at around 10pm.
Reports from the across the area confirmed the towering column of black smoke could be seen for miles around.
Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed they had been called to an incident on Marine Esplanade yesterday evening.
The black smoke appears to be the result of someone setting fire to car tyres.
A spokesperson from Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “We were alerted to reports of a fire on Marine Esplanade at 22.13"
“Two appliances attended, the crews extinguished the fire and left the scene.”
