Here's why Oor Wullie statues have popped up around Glasgow

You might notice statues of Oor Wullie popping up around the city.

Scotland's favourite son arrives in Glasgow as part of Oor Wullie's BIG Bucket Trail – an 11-week nationwide public art trail which is raising vital funds for Scotland's children's hospital charities.

Sculptures of the cheeky comic book icon will be rocking up at city spots such as People's Palace, Silverburn, Buchanan Galleries and Strathclyde University as more than 200 Oor Wullies pull up an upturned bucket around the country.

Funds raised though the trail will go to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and the ARCHIE Foundation, helping children in hospitals across Scotland.

Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail runs for 11 weeks until August 30 – culminating in a series of Farewell Events and nationwide auctions in each of the five host cities, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness.

So keep your eyes peeled for Auchenshoogle's brawest export this summer! See if you can spot all the Oor Wullie statues on the City Sightseeing Bus Tour – take a look at the map here.
