Here's why low flying helicopters, boats and explosions can be heard in Dublin

There have been low flying helicopters hovering over Dublin Bay this morning, along with boats and explosions taking place in the water.

But there's no need to worry, as the Irish Defence Forces have been carrying out training.

The training operation at Poolbeg is taking place this morning between 6am and 9am in an effort to train junior leaders.

The Defence Forces issued a notice last night giving pre-warning about the unusual noises and vehicles that will be seen and heard in the capital.

In a notice issued last night, they said: "We will conducting a military exercise in the Poolbeg area, Dublin Docks tomorrow morning between 6.00 & 9.00am This exercise aims to test our junior leaders in a MOUT environment & will involve low flying helicopters, boats & pyrotechnics."

If you happen to catch some video or pictures from the training operation, make sure to send them on to news@dublinlive.ie or through a message on our Facebook page.
