Leeds United legend Chris Kamara's hilarious joke about Goals On Sunday axing

Former Leeds United favourite made a hilarious joke about his absence from last weekend's edition of Sky Sports show Goals On Sunday.

Kammy, 62, has presented football highlights show Goals on Sunday since 2000. Last year, Alex Scott joined Kammy as co-host after Ben Shephard stepped down from his role.

Unfortunately for fans, the show in its shape we are all familiar with has changed as it has been incorporated into Sky Sports News. This meant former Leeds United star Kammy had a free Sunday morning to himself today.

The installment was hosted by presenter Vicky Gomersall and had Clinton Morrison giving his views on Saturday’s matches.

Former host Kamara made light of the Sky Sports overhaul on Twitter as fans were left wondering where he was.

Last week, Kammy discussed the ongoing overhaul at Sky Sports which has been three panelists leave the broadcaster's Soccer Saturday goals service. Phil Thompson, Charlie Nicholas and Matt Le Tissier have all been axed.

The only stalwarts remaining are host Jeff Stelling and pundit Paul Merson with Kammy continuing in his role on the road at stadiums.

“Obviously I’m gutted, absolutely gutted,” the former footballer turned broadcaster said. “And, I know they are. I’ve spoken to Thommo and Charlie and I’ve text Le Tiss. We were such a good team and it was all going well.

The outgoing pundits have all publicly paid their farewells to Soccer Saturday and Kammy believes his friends have accepted what has happened.

“Decisions were made, we don’t have any say in those. Whoever made (them) has done it and the boys accept it,” he said.

“I can honestly say they are the best fellas you could ever wish to meet. They are top-drawer and it’s been a great time to have worked with them over the past 15 years or so.”
