Some unexpected and rare visitors were spotted over the skies of Glasgow yesterday evening in the form of two huge Chinook helicopters flying up the River Clyde.
The impressive sight of the helicopters, as well as their distinct sound from their twin rotors, saw plenty of people take to social media to post videos and photos of them.
The reason it seems for the unusual visit here was to use Glasgow Airport as a refueling post prior to their return to base at RAF Odiham in Hampshire.
The RAF's heavy lift copters were spotted prior to that above the skies in Kilmarnock suggesting they had also landed or had been in the vicinity of Prestwick Airport.
It comes just days after a huge military plane was spotted above the city as it performed essential training exercises ('touch and go' landings) at Glasgow Airport.
The plane in question was a RAF Airbus A400M, a massive four-engine turboprop plane which operates out of RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire as a tactical airlifter to deliver supplies or personnel.
