Here’s Where To Find The Cheapest Prices For The Nintendo Switch 2 In Australia

That’s right folks, the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 is finally out. As of today, some of us will have the honour of playing as a slutty cow with its milkers out in the brand new Mario Kart World. Ain’t that a treat?

The world was shocked when Nintendo announced the upcoming Switch 2. Well, mildly. It’s been a long-rumoured console for years, with numerous leaks circulating on the internet. It wasn’t until January 16, 2025, that Nintendo finally ripped off the Band-Aid and gave us an official reveal.

Most of us thought it was pretty neat. However, the steep price hit gamers like a blue shell before the finish line. On launch, the original Nintendo Switch cost $469.95. Seven years later, its successor now costs a whopping $699.99 AUD RRP.

So, if you’re reading this, you’re probably keen on grabbing the Nintendo Switch 2 for the cheapest price possible.

Lucky for you, we’ve done the work and scoured the web for the best prices out there from major Aussie retailers.

What is the Nintendo Switch 2?

For anyone living under a rock, the Nintendo Switch 2 is the official follow-up to the Nintendo Switch. The original Switch came out in 2017, but even at the time, the hardware was a bit outdated. In only a few short years, the Switch would struggle to run most new games on its hardware.

Now, with the Switch 2, Nintendo is finally entering the new console generation with hardware that can tackle today’s gamers’ needs.

Not only is the console bigger and better, but it also features a few other nifty additions. The best quality-of-life feature here (in my opinion) is that the Joy-Cons can now function as a mouse, meaning you can play shooting or strategy games like Metroid Prime or Civ VII without risking early-onset carpal tunnel syndrome in your wrist.

Nintendo has also revamped its online gaming experience. The console now has a dedicated button that’ll take players to its version of Discord, a voice-chat app called GameChat. Here, players can join on call and stream their gameplay to friends.

Of course, the most significant change is the specs on this thing. Not to bog you down in the details, but the new Switch 2 features a 1080p resolution that can be upgraded to 4K when docked. It also features HDR support and can run games up to 120 fps.

If you wanna know what that means, all you have to do is check out how Pokémon Scarlet/Violet is running on this thing. Look! Water effects that won’t turn your Switch into a bomb! *sniff* We’ve come so far.

Where to find the cheapest Nintendo Switch 2 console in Australia?

Now for what we all came for — the sweet sweet deals.

Currently, Amazon has the best deal on offer, selling the console for just $696 AUD. That’s a whopping $3 off the retail price. So, if you’re a Prime member, this should be a pretty tantalising deal.

Other big retailers are selling the console for almost exactly the same price.

EB Games, Big W and JB Hi-Fi are all slinging the new console for $699 AUD, so if you don’t wanna wait for delivery, you can skip over and purchase in person (if consoles are still available).

But who wants a console without any games on it?

So far, the only bundle deal on the market is the Nintendo Switch 2 Console + Mario Kart World Bundle, which will cost ya $769 RRP. This will get you the Switch 2, alongside the brand-new Mario Kart game, which costs $119 RRP on its own (or $94 at Big W).

JB Hi-Fi, EB Games and Big W are all selling the bundle for the same $769 price at launch.

As of the time of writing, Amazon‘s bundle will cost you $865.95 AUD. This costs more than just buying the Switch 2 from Amazon and Mario Kart World separately, though.

How much will Nintendo Switch 2 accessories cost?

If you’re keen on getting a fully decked-out Switch 2, you might consider picking up some extra toys to go with it at checkout.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller will cost ya $119 on Amazon, JB Hi-Fi, Big W and EB Games.

Want to show off your beautiful face getting blue-shelled in the new Mario Kart? You can pick up the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera for $69 (nice) on Amazon, JB Hi-Fi, EB Games, and Big W.

For those already salivating at the thought of Mario Kart nights with friends, you can grab the new Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Pair controllers for $139 on Amazon, Big W, EB Games and JB Hi-Fi.

You can also extend your playtime with a Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip for $49 from Amazon, EB Games, JB Hi-Fi and Big W.

So far, there are only two new games exclusive to the Switch 2 on launch: Mario Kart World and The Welcome Tour. All previous games you have on your Switch will be playable on your new console, and most will have upscaled graphics and improved performance.

You can also grab a membership to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier for $59.95 a year. This will let you play online with friends, but most importantly, opens the vault to Switch’s massive online games library. Here, you can download plenty of classic Gamecube games like Legend of Zelda: Windwaker, Pokémon Colosseum, Super Mario Sunshine and more. Sadly, there’s no word yet on whether The Simpsons Hit & Run will be ported over. I know, I’m as devastated as you are.

Sadly, reviews won’t be available on launch tomorrow. However, you can read our first impressions and thoughts here (spoilers: we had a blast! Nintendo cooked with this one). And there you have it, gamers. Best of luck to everyone fighting to get a console on day one or at the upcoming midnight launch events happening across Australia.
