Here's when College Green will close to traffic again as part of World Car Free Day

Dublin's College Green is set to close to traffic again later this month.

The city centre spot was pedestrianised over three weekends in July, in an effort to show locals how it could be if the plaza was permanently closed to traffic.

And now as part of World Car Free Day on Sunday, September 22, it will become pedestrianised once again.

The traffic free zone had previously come under criticism for a number of steel barriers that prevented its openness.

But Dublin City Council quickly moved to amend the issue, and received a lot of praise for the closure after the second week.

New Street in Malahide will also be going 'car free' on September 22 to mark the day.

Dublin Chamber said: "Dubliners will get another chance to experience a pedestrianised College Green.

"The area will be closed to traffic as part of Mobility Week's World Car Free Day on Sunday 22nd September.

"Another welcome opportunity for people to get out and see what a traffic-free College Green would actually be like.

"We’re also pleased to hear that Fingal County Council will be taking part too, with New Street in Malahide also going ‘car-free’ that day.

"Here’s hoping that the sun shines."
