Here's when College Green will be pedestrianised and closed to traffic this Summer

Dublin's College Green is going to be pedestrianised - but it's only on a trial basis for now.

The popular location where Dame Street meets Trinity College has been subject to plans to permanently pedestrianise the area.

But despite those plans being refused by An Bord Pleanala, Dublin City Council has announced three dates this Summer that will see the area closed to traffic.

They are Sunday, July 21, Sunday, July 28 and Sunday, August 4.

Those days will be used to gauge public reaction to the closure, with a number of family friendly events planned for the area.

The Dublin Chamber has said it is "pleased" that the days have been announced.

Dublin Chamber said: "The pedestrianisation of College Green is to be trialed for 3 full days this summer.

"The area will be fully traffic free on Sunday 21 July, Sunday 28 July and Sunday 4 August.

"The idea of trialing College Green Plaza was put forward by Dublin Chamber late last year. We’re pleased to see the idea being brought to life."
