Here's what the cast of 6Degrees are up to five years on from the finale

It's just over five years since the last ever episode of Northern Ireland student drama 6Degrees aired on our screens - and we thought it was time to look back on the show.

Landing somewhere between Hollyoaks, Skins and Fresh Meat, 6Degrees showed young people dealing with young person problems.

This meant that you had your smattering of plotlines about relationships, the stresses of work and study, and the complexities family life.

For many of us of a certain age, 6Degrees was the first NI TV show which portrayed characters and situations we could genuinely relate to. For that, it will forever hold a place in Northern Ireland TV history.

So, five years on from the end of the show's third series, we took a look at where some of the leading actors are now...

Niall Wright

Niall Wright was already a well-recognised face before appearing on the show as Danny Burns. He'd received acclaimed for his childhood role as Jonjo in Mickybo & Me , as well as playing Undertones bassist Mickey Bradley in Good Vibrations.

In recent years, Niall has landed some big theatre roles. Since 2017, he has played the role of JJ Carney in The Ferryman - an award-winning play about a former IRA activist - directed by Oscar-winner Sam Mendes.

He also appeared in horror series Lore , on Amazon Prime.

Ryan McParland

Ryan played the lovably geekish 'Leech' on 6Degrees. He'd also previously had a small role in Good Vibrations as 'Fangs'.

In recent years, Ryan McParland has had a wide range of roles in film, TV and theatre. He played the part of 'Needles' in acclaimed Irish film Calm With Horses (alongside Barry Keoghan), as well having a role in 2017 film Kissing Candice .

McParland also had a small role in Derry Girls as Jonjo and featured in the music video for Kodaline's Shed A Tear.

Georgia Maguire

Georgia played Londoner Jess Green for the first two series of the show, with her character recurring in the final season.

Since the show's finish, she's gone on to have a successful career in comedy, forming part of Comedy Central's Modern Horror Stories TV show, as well as ITV's recent offering, The Stand Up Sketch Show . She also played a part opposite Benedict Cumberbatch on Patrick Melrose.

If you're wondering why you recognise her so well, this hilarious video did the rounds last year when it went viral on social media.

Cillian O'Sullivan

Cillian O'Sullivan played Conor Martin for all three series.

Since the show ended, he's played numerous roles, featuring in high profile American crime drama The Blacklist , as well as in Vikings , Northern Ireland prison film Maze , and comedy thriller Misty Buttons .

He is set to play a leading role in upcoming Netflix thriller series, In From the Cold .

Jayne Wisener

Already immortalised for her appearance in The Inbetweeners ("Feisty one you are!"), Coleraine actress Jayne Wisener played Sandie Morrow on 6Degrees.

In recent years, Jayne has had roles in everything from Grand Opera House pantomimes (she played the starring role in Cinderella on a number of occasions), to other theatre performances in the Lyric. She's also had numerous roles in TV and film.

Jamie Lee O'Donnell

Jamie Lee O'Donnell played the role of frank, party-loving Derry character Eva Maguire on 6Degrees.

O'Donnell didn't have to adapt too much when she landed a role as Michelle in Derry Girls, for which she's now most well-known.

The actress has also appeared in The Secret Journey , a short film about abortion in Ireland, and is set to star in upcoming film Redeeming Love , according to IMDB.
