Here’s What Suns Fan Called Russell Westbrook That Infuriated Him

At halftime of the Suns-Clippers game on Sunday night, Los Angeles guard Russell Westbrook got into an altercation with a Phoenix fan. Westbrook was walking through club-level seating when he heard a fan say something to him, and instead of letting it slide, he decided to yell back at the fan.

On twitter, FanDuel’s Eddie Gonzalez said he was near the interaction and claims the fan called Westbrook “Westbrick.” The nickname is a reference to Westbrook’s shooting percentage, as the guard shot 43.6% from the field and 31.1% from three-point range on the season.

During Game 1, Westbrook produced a 3-for-19 shooting line, which led to questions about his ability to make shots against top teams. However, Westbrook came through in other areas, totaling 11 rebounds, eight assists, three blocks and two steals, which included an impressive sequence late in the game to ice the 115-110 win over Phoenix.

According to Duane Rankin, who covers the Suns for AZCentral.com, the area where the incident occurred is a club area that visiting players often use as a shortcut between the locker room and the court.

Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes reports the NBA is investigating the incident, but it is unlikely Westbrook will face a suspension.
