Here’s what might be next for the Atlanta Hawks after the Cam Reddish trade

NBA trade season is officially upon us, friends. We just got our first headliner deal of the season.

The Atlanta Hawks just traded Cam Reddish, Solomon Hill and a second-round pick to the New York Knicks for Kevin Knox and a heavily protected first-round pick from the Hornets. The pick is top-18 protected for the 2022 season and, if the season ended today, it’d convey to the Hawks.

For the Knicks, it’s a solid deal. They get to take on a project in Cam Reddish who hasn’t been great but has shown flashes of potential here and there. All they had to give up for him was a project in Knox that didn’t work out and a pick that wasn’t theirs. Knicks fans are obviously excited.

For the Hawks, it’s weird. At least on the surface. They just gave up a promising player for a pick with a chance to…get another young promising player? That doesn’t make a ton of sense.

But this move could potentially have a ripple effect on their franchise for years to come. Let’s explore that.
