Rob Gronkowski dented a Lombardi Trophy at Red Sox home opener

Rob Gronkowski has retired from football, but not from incurring a fair amount of carnage. During the New England Patriots trip to Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox home opener, Gronk dented one of the team’s Lombardi Trophies.

Get this: He was using the trophy like a baseball bat.

Gronkowski, Julian Edelman and Stephon Gilmore were set to throw out opening pitches for the Sox home opener. So Edelman and Gronk warmed up their throws. With Edelman pitching, Gronk playful stepped up to swing at the ball. A handful of Patriots watched, not actually believing he’d actually use the trophy to hit the ball. But he did. He bunted the ball with the Lombardi, which left a baseball-sized imprint in the hardware.

Here’s the story, as told by some of the Patriots who watched the mishap.
