Here's Nvidia's New GeForce 'Fortnite' Counterattack Bundle, And How To Get It

Switch has one, PS4 has one, Xbox has one, even Samsung Galaxy. And now PC Players have their own bundle of Fortnite cosmetics, or at least some PC players. Epic Games and Nvidia just announced a new GeForce bundle that comes along with new qualifying graphics cards and laptops. It’s called “Counterattack:” with the purchase of a qualifying card you’ll get the Reflex outfit, the Response Unit back bling, Pivot Glider, Angular Axe harvesting tool and, as always, 2,000 v-bucks.

Let’s take a look:

fortnite

They’re not bad, and like most of the Twitch Prime or hardware bundles, they follow a slightly more grounded aesthetic than what we usually see out of premium skins these days: there’s no noir detective with a pumpkin head in here. As usual, I’d only recommend you get this if you were already planning on getting a new graphics card.

The blog post only specifies new purchases, so it does not appear that you’ll get the cosmetics if you already own one of these cards. The word exclusive also does not appear on the blog post, however, and so it’s entirely possible that these skins will show up in the item shop at some point. Here’s what you’ll need to buy:

  • GTX 1070 Ti
  • GTX 1070
  • GTX 1060

It’s a little unclear why Nvidia isn’t throwing some skins in with sales of high-end cards like the RTX 2080, 2080ti, 2070 or even 1080, but one supposes if you’re dropping the sort of coin required for a 2080ti you can just afford your own skins, and better ones.

It’s not cheap to collect all the Fortnite skins in this game. Just buying all the premium skins would cost thousands and thousands of dollars, and throwing in the price of exclusive hardware bundles can really jack that number up quickly. If you’re currently admiring your in-game locker and reminiscing about purchases and battle passes, just know that there are wealthy players out there that have every single skin ever offered by the game. It is a sobering thought, though a Fortnite whale still doesn’t spend nearly as much as one in a game that offers more traditional loot boxes.
