Here's how you could buy your very own bus

If you have ever fancied owning a bus then you could pick up a bargain when a 47-strong fleet goes under the hammer later this month.

An online auction of the cream and red Halton Transport buses has opened with an opening bid of just £300 placed for a 2006 Dennis Enviro 200.

Opening bids for many of the newer buses have started at £5,000.

CheshireLive reports the auction is open until 10am on March 17. It comes after Halton Transport went into liquidation in January having racked up losses of almost £620,000 in 2019.

Joint liquidators Paul Flint and Mark Firmin of Alvarez and Marsal Europe LLP set up the online auction being run by Sanderson Weatherall (SW).

Viewing takes place from 10am to 4pm on Monday, March 16, at the depot in Moor Lane, Widnes, Cheshire, WA8 7AF.

In total there are 35 Alexander Dennis Dart/Super Dart/Enviro 200 single deck buses (2007-2002) plus 12 Scania Omnicity single deckers (2009).

The auction also includes a Ford Transit Connect Van (2005), a Vauxhall Vivaro Van (2007), commercial garage and workshop equipment, coin counting machines, office furniture and IT hardware.

Purchasers pay a buyer’s premium of 10% plus VAT on buses or 15% plus VAT of the purchase price for each lot purchased, whether by auction, private treaty or tender.

All lots must be cleared by 4pm on Wednesday, March 25. Collection from site is the buyer’s responsibility.

Arriva announced new bus services for Runcorn and Widnes following the collapse of Halton Transport. Forty-nine staff moved across to join the Arriva team.
