Here's how you can switch on the Christmas lights at Wollaton Park

The search has begun to find a Nottingham 'star' to switch on the Christmas lights at Wollaton Park.

Okay, so this Christmas might not be like any other we’ve experienced but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have a little sparkle and glitz in our lives.

If you want to feel like a celeb, how about switching on the Christmas lights at Wollaton Hall this year?

The organisers of the event say they’re looking for a ‘star’, a special person in the community who will be guest of honour and light up the brand-new magical Christmas lights event on Friday, November 27, 2020.

It’s the first time that the park and formal gardens at Wollaton Hall & Deer Park will be transformed into an enchanting multi-sensory spectacle - socially distanced, of course.

A spokesperson said: “During a challenging year there have been some outstanding acts of kindness across the city and county. And we want to be able to recognise these efforts, with a unique experience.

“It could be someone who has lit up your day and added a bit of sparkle in your life, or it could be someone who has been through tough times and deserves a unique treat - a friend, neighbour, colleague, teacher, key worker a child or adult. The nominee must either live, work or study in Nottinghamshire.”

The winner will be selected by Owen Shipton from Notts TV, to be the guest of honour on opening night and will receive a family ticket (for 4 people to the event).

To nominate your Wollaton at Christmas Star you must live or work in Nottingham city or the county, then all you have to do is go to the website (christmasatwollaton.org/) and nominate your chosen person.

Closing date for nominations is 8pm on Monday, November 16, the winner, who needs to be available to flick the switch at 4.00pm on the day, will be announced on 20 November.
