Here's how you can get paid to work at St Paul's Carnival this year

St Paul's Carnival is returning this year and organisers have announced plenty of ways to get involved.

The massive celebration of Bristol’s African-Caribbean culture will return on July 6, after last year’s event proved to be a huge success following a three year absence.

To celebrate this year's theme of ‘Our Journey’ , the carnival team has a range of ways for people to play a part in the event from paid work opportunities to volunteering.

For anyone who fancies giving back to the community by volunteering, there are a number of roles covering six different areas.

These are production, outreach, creative, design and photography, on the day live crew (which includes stewards and runners) and post event, which includes littler pickers and clear up crew.

In return for their time, volunteers receive references, relevant training such as first aid, a commemorative carnival t-shirt and most importantly, access to events and official after parties.

There are also a few paid-for job roles which the event management team has available for forklift, 7.5 tonne truck drivers and general maintenance/handy people to assist with stage assembly between July 2 and July 9.

Executive director, LaToyah McAllister-Jones, said: “This year’s carnival is going to be more inclusive than ever before.

"We are looking for people as passionate as we are about having this event in Bristol long into the future, to collaborate and work with us, meet new people, gain new skills and above all enjoy the day and make Our Journey theirs."

Those interested in volunteering should get in contact via volunteer@stpaulscarnival.org.uk while those wanting to apply for the paid work can send an email to admin@stpaulscarnival.org.uk .
