Here's how Twitter reacted to Vinnie Jones' emotional Life Stories interview

Vinnie Jones dissolved into tears on Saturday night on Piers Morgan's Life Stories as he spoke about his grief over losing his wife.

And fans watching the programme flooded social media with their heartfelt responses to the actor's emotional outpouring.

Once known for his 'hard man' image, former footballer Jones was a Leeds United FC legend who could dish it out and take it on the pitch.

But going head-to-head in ITV's intimate interview programme became too much for the Watford-born entertainer.

Piers Morgan tweeted that it was "The most emotional, heart-breaking Life Stories show ever" and it certainly seemed so when it came to discussing Jones' late wife Tanya.

Jones’ wife of 25 years was 53 when she died on July 6, 2019 following many years of treatment for cancer, leaving behind their son, Aaron Elliston Jones, and her daughter, Kaley Terry, from her first marriage to footballer Steve Terry.

Jones was by his wife’s side when she died at their home in Los Angeles.

He revealed last October that Tanya has written a letter asking her family not to grieve for her.

On Saturday's ITV programme, Morgan asked Jones what he missed more of all.

His reply was: "Just the trampoline of being there for me.

"Yeah, I’d let her down so many times, but she’d catch me. And it was so much, many times, I said to her once, ‘It was like catching a falling star.’

"She never once, Piers, would not put her arms out and catch me, every time."

Online, people were touched by his honesty.

Elliott Gonzalez tweeted: "Just minutes in to Vinnie Jones’ #LifeStories and already I’ve got something in my eye. What an emotional interview this is going to be."

"This @piersmorgan #LifeStories is incredible, very brave of @VinnieJones65 to speak like this," added Simon Bailey.

Geoff Peters said: "That was a tough, emotional watch. Piers Morgan can actually be a decent, empathetic interviewer away from his OTT political stuff."

Jones was transferred to Leeds United FC in 1989 from the Wimbledon side which won the '88 FA Cup.

At Elland Road, he was part of the team which finished as champions of the Second Division, winning promotion to Division One.
