Where Instagram filters are concerned, it's safe to say that necessity to stave off boredom — in this case — truly is the mother of invention.
Joining the ranks of seemingly endless Instagram filters is the new 'make this face' challenge which has been doing the rounds on the social network.
It was created by user @lowercasecomics, and it works by cycling through a series of animated faces, somewhat similar to the classic Forever Alone face meme, and lands on one of them which you need to replicate.
It's up to you (or really, your followers) to decide on if you nailed it or not.
Before grabbing this filter, make sure you update your Instagram app to the latest version, or else you might not be able to access it.
Here's how to get the make this face filter on Instagram.
- Using Instagram on your phone, find your way to @lowercasecomics' profile, tap on the middle tab to bring up filters and it's the first one at the top left called make this face.
- Tapping on that will show you how it works and if you want to try it yourself, just press on the 'Try it' option to save it to your Instagram camera.
- Now you've got the filter, it's time to start making faces
As you might expect, all you need to do is press and hold the middle icon to start a video and the filter will cycle through a number of different faces until it lands on the one you need to recreate.
Once you've done that, go ahead and show it off to your followers and see what they think.
