Here’s how the black cat may have gotten on to the field during the Giants and Cowboys game

The Dallas Cowboys might have one little feline to thank for the good luck that led to them blowing out the New York Giants on Monday night.

A black cat ran on to the field at MetLife Stadium in the middle of Monday Night Football, which led to so many jokes on Twitter and one legendary call by Kevin Harlan on the radio.

But fans had so many questions: how did the cat get on to the field? Did someone bring his or her cat to the stadium? Is there a cat living at MetLife to keep the rodent population down?

Reporter Madelyn Burke got a possible answer:

Asked building security about the black cat on the field: Apparently there are some resident stray cats at MetLife— they usually come out after the game, people feed them, etc. They live in the bleachers, I’m told this one must have gotten startled out by fan noise #journalism
