Here's how far you can travel from Glasgow city centre for £5

Exactly how far can you can get away from Glasgow with just £5 of in your car?

A fiver isn't a lot (and we've all had dodgy looks from cashier when we've topped up our car below the £10 mark) but you might be surprised by how far it can get you.

The car buying platform Carwow tested how far commuters could travel on five quid over five modes of transport and found that the electric car came on top - by miles.

Charge your electric car to the value of £5, and you’ll go 102 miles on average.  That's enough to take you to Edinburgh and back!

In second-placed is diesel, but it cuts the distanced travelled by an electric car in half. Put in £5 of diesel and on average, you’ll go around 56.5 miles.

Things get worse from there for petrol, the train and the bus. On average, £5 takes you 49.6 miles in a petrol car, 20 miles on a train and just 12.6 miles via bus.

So there you have it, folks. Looks like you need to make chums with someone who has an electric car if you are on the dreaded .

Just know that when they ask you for £10 petrol money, you can tell them to get on their bike.
